About Aesop

Red Room Studio is proud to present Aesop's Fables, an awesome Moral Comedy in two acts, adapted from the Greek translation by Eliza Gardiner. Eliza will direct this young people's production that features fables to be performed by 7-15 year old students on December 8th-9th the at Malaspina University-College Theatre in Nanaimo.

Manda Chelmak who worked with Red Room Studio on their spring production "Alice", is Stage Manager for the program that rehearses Sundays and Wednesdays. The wonderfully adapted script gives young actors the thrill of performance based acting while learning positive morals and life lessons along the way. Manda loves the script with its many famous teachers, such as the Tortoise and Hare who run their race, who share the stage with other colorful characters illustrating morals like, "Never abandon a friend at a sign of danger."

Each performer is cast in a role. In addition to playing one very important part each. Everyone will also be in Eliza's favorite part of the play, the Chorus of Birds and Frogs who dance in grand costumes, spouting Aesop's morals along with lyric poetry of Aristophanes. Each week, young performers will have the opportunity to enhance their acting abilities by taking part in fun acting games, character-building exercises and team work activities; participants will have a great time learning about theatre and its history while creating a dynamic production.
